All-Request Hour With Your Favorite Jewish & Israeli Music!

The Beat with Ben Bresky
September 2, 2007

The show the listeners created live featuring:

* Dan Bern - Lithuania - A passionate 10 minute track about his family's Holocaust experiences from The Swastika EP

* Yosef Karduner - Ani Maamin - I get plenty of requests for this soulful acoustic singer

* RebbeSoul - Esa Enei - a sort of dreamy, hip-hop, new-age, electronic beat version of a Carlebach classic

* Arik Rudich - Shma Yisrael - The Cantorial Project - This award winning Israeli soundtrack composer took old cantorial records and made them new-age ambient electronica tracks.

* Piamenta - Arabic Medley - I never liked the Sason V'Simcha album because I thought it was over-produced and too shmaltzy. How wrong I was! The flutes rock!

* The Klezmatics - Shprayz Ikh Mir - The trumpet player Frank London is performing here in Israel this week. He's the best. The Jpost had a nice interview with him. So did I a year or so ago. Check out the link for more.

* Mickey Katz - Yoshke And The Beanstalk - I couldn't find the requested Mazeltones, so I hope this is good enough.

* Jo Amar - Barcelona - My friend Isaac looks exactly like a young Jo Amar! We used to joke about this often.

* Yishai Lapidot - Akshav - A funky new single from the leader of Oif Simchas.
