Mid-East Fusion with Eden Mi Qedem - Download now!

I first met Shmuel Nelson and Eden Mi Qedem two years ago at the Aharit Hayamim festival in Gush Etzion, right next to the musically conducive Bat Ayin Yeshiva where Shmuel was once a student. I was mesmerized by the hypnotic Middle Eastern sound mixed with rock guitars. My impromptu interview after the show was even more intriguing as Shmuel and his Hebrew-only speaking violinist told me his inspiration was 3AM Shabbat services.

Now, two years later the band has finally released its debut album which fuses traditional middle eastern sounds, Torah based lyrics and electronic beats. Find out about the Jewish Iraqi orchestra, getting in touch with Jewishness in Japan and rocking out on the oud, the ney and the qanoum.
